Changing Hostname Made Easy - A Beginners Guide to Nameservers!
Let me explain.
When you type in your domain name, your request is sent to your Registrar - the company that provided you with the domain name. The Registrar then sends you to where the Website is hosted.
Now, what you need to remember is that your Registrar and your Hosting Co. are often two entirely different companies. Some Registrars also provide hosting - at a price. It usually makes more sense to buy the cheapest domain name you can find and then host with a more reputable company.
So, assuming that you are indeed working with two separate companies, your Registrar will not know who you are hosting with. You need to do something to link your Registrar with your Hosting A/C.
How do you do that?
You need to change the Registrar's NAMESERVER details to those of your own Hosting A/C - you're really just changing hostname.
A Nameserver is simply what links a Registrar with a Hosting A/C.
To change the Nameserver details log into your Registrar A/C and find where you can Edit/Manage Domains. There should be an icon like "Nameservers" for you to click on. All you need to do then is replace the default nameserver details with the correct details (you will have been sent these details in an email from your Hosting Company).
Now, when you type in your domain name your Registrar knows will know exactly where to find your website. Isn't it amazing how simply you can sort out these little problems - once you know how?

Domain Names - How to Obtain the Perfect Domain Name For Your Niche
You know the domain name you want and it fits your niche perfectly. You have spent hours thinking of your perfect domain name. But when you go to type in the words those horrible red letters appear on the screen. Someone has already taken Your Name!
Unfortunately choosing a domain name is a little more complex than coming up with a baby name because no two names can be the same. But with a little creativity that perfect domain name can still be yours.
First, you always want a .com. It is easy for people to remember, everyone is familiar with the term, so why complicate things? Even the search engines favor .com. When you see that horrible red text telling you that the .com you want is taken, do not be tempted to buy a .net, a .biz or any other domain that is available with your chosen name - even if they cost less.
Adding numbers or dashes to obtain your chosen domain name is also a bad idea. People just do not remember numbers as easy as they remember words. Dashes and dots between a word will create the same problem and make your perfect name sound disjointed.
Sticking firmly to your .com, try adding a short word to your chosen domain name. Some good ones that can easily be added to most names are Edge, Daily, Hub, Box, Site, Day, Line, Entity, World, Host, Buzz, Booth, Value, Plus, Zone, Geeks, Club, Area, Hot, Town, Zip, Mall, Gem, Plaza, Life.
For example if your chosen domain name is 'MakeMusic' it could become 'MakeMusicHub' or 'MakeMusicDaily.' Also, try making the name plural or adding 'ing' to one of the words. For example if you want the domain name 'DogHotel' because that is already the name of your kennel business then try 'DogsHotel ' or 'DogHoteling.' You can also add the name of your town if you are mostly looking for local business.
If you are not the creative kind, then take a look in the dictionary for ideas, check out book titles and business names. Words are important, especially on line. Make sure your primary key word is in your name. Try to keep it down to two or three short words, making it easy for people to remember. Do not give up on that .com. There is a domain name out there waiting to be created by you!

Tips For Choosing Effective and Successful Domain Names
Perhaps you are building a website for a company that already exists, or it may be that you are purchasing a domain for the sole purpose of investing in internet "real property." Either way, you will want a name that holds the capacity to offer real value to the internet and web users.
* Business Names and Copyrights: If your business name is available and it is how you prefer to brand your products, it might be a good domain choice. However, be aware of whether your business name may infringe on any other business names or copyrights that may exist.
Purchasing a domain with the same name as a popular soft drink could earn you some big bucks, or conversely it could cause a big headache.
* Easy to Remember and Type: Keep in mind the short attention span of web users when choosing your name. You want it to be easy to remember so they can recall your site's name if they later want to refer your URL to a friend. Keeping it short and easy to type (i.e. avoiding mixing letters and numbers) will help users find you faster.
* Misspellings and Slang: Many websites purposely misspell their domain or use slang, as a part of their branding. However, domain registrars sell names with unintentional misspellings on a daily basis. A surefire way to doom your business is to have a web address that is misspelled.
* Be Creative and Have Fun: Overall, it is important to have fun when exploring name options. Web users love creativity, and it often lends itself to the fun and enjoyment of visitors to your site, perhaps resulting in an increase in traffic when web users stop by just to see what the buzz is all about.
Domain names can be highly professional or downright questionable, and either may be appropriate for your needs. Many highly popular websites herald a name that has no definition or meaning, but that gave the site owner the opportunity to create a new brand and therefore stand out among others in the sea of internet domains.
